Colorado: Sand Wash Basin
Posted on Thursday, February 01 @ 00:00:00 MST by iljiana

Horse Rentals & Day Ride Trails Located northwest of Maybell, easily accessible from Colorado State Highway 318.

The Sand Wash Basin of northwestern Colorado straddles the Wyoming state line between the Park Range on the east and the Uinta uplift on the west. It is located within the northeastern half of Moffat County and western two-thirds of Routt County, as well as a small section of northeastern Rio Blanco County and the northern tip of Garfield County.

Trails: There are numerous dirt roads and trails in the area. It is a good idea to avoid this area with vehicles when the soil is wet or you will find yourself hopelessly mired in the mud.

Information on existing roads and trails, and water sources in these areas may be found on the Little Snake Resource Area transportation or 1:100,000 scale maps. USGS topographic maps( are useful for more detailed information.

Specific trail guides are not available.
