Horseback riding is allowed at Bonny Lake State Park, but there are no horse rentals.

Most of the lakeshore trails at Bonny are open to horses. There are 10 campsites in the Foster Grove Campground for equestrians, but horses must be tethered outside the campground.

Directions:

From Denver
Take I-70 east to Burlington, then go north on U.S 385 either 23 miles (to County Road 2) or 24 miles (to County Road 3). Turn east on County Road 2 then go 3 ½ miles to the south park entrance for the Wagon Wheel and East Beach campgrounds or east on County Road 3 for 1 ½ miles to the west park entrance for the Foster Grove and North Cove campgrounds).

Take I-70 east to Byers, then east on U.S. 36 (approximately 108 miles) to Idalia. Continue east two miles through Idalia on U.S. 36. Then south on U.S. 385 for 6 miles (to County Road 3) then east 1 ½ miles to the west park entrance for Foster Grove and North Cove campgrounds or 7 miles (to County Road 2) then east - 3 ½ miles to the south park entrance for Wagon Wheel and East Beach campgrounds.
