Visitors to the Catahoula Ranger District can enjoy the picturesque setting at Stuart Lake Recreation Complex, hike or bike along the Glenn Emery Trail, drive the Grant Dogwood Trail, visit the original LSU Site in Pineville, hunt during the fall and winter days in the National Catahoula Wildlife Management Preserve, or ride an OHV on one of two trails on the Camp Livingston trails. Camp Livingston Trails

Camp Livingston Clear Creek Loop Trail:

The Clear Creek Loop Trail is an easy to moderate OHV trail that traverses across a wide variety of terrain. A number of creek crossings surrounded by a hardwood bottomland setting, to very dense hilly pine stretches will keep the rider alert and interested in what to expect next. Although there are many trail crossings, the yellow trail markers should keep you on track. The trail is a complete loop trail that is approximately 21 miles in length. The trailhead has ample parking and a vault restroom facility. From U.S. Highway 165 in Ball, take Hwy 165 north to Louisiana Highway 1204 and turn right (east). Go to the end of Hwy 1204, where it will become a gravel road and travel 1/4 mile further to the trailhead on the right (south). The Clear Creek Trailhead has a daily parking fee of $3 which can be paid at the trailhead.

Camp Livingston Hickman Loop Trail:

The Hickman Trail Loop is a moderately difficult trail that traverses through varying trail types but is predominately upland pine hills. Although the Hickman Trail is a loop trail, it can be used with the Catahoula Trail to extend a visitors experience. Both of these trails are equal in difficulty and terrain. The Hickman Trail has a trailhead which provides riders with ample parking and a vault toilet. Please bring out your unwanted items and trash because there is no trash receptacles at this location. To get to the Hickman Trailhead from U.S. Highway 165 in Ball, go north on U.S. Hwy 165 to Louisiana Highway 3130 and turn right (east). Travel on LA 3130 until it becomes a gravel road. Go left at the Y junction of FR 104 and FR 129 and take FR 129 to the trailhead sign on the left. Use caution while traveling on the paved portions of old Camp Livingston due to adjusting soil humps which have raised portions of the cement roads into what acts like speed bumps. The Hickman Trailhead has a daily parking fee of $3 which can be paid at the trailhead.
