Paonia features great scenery, water-skiing, wildflowers and camping.
The park's natural beauty and abundance of wildflowers make it a "must
see" for photographers and nature lovers. No drinking water is
available. Please bring your own drinking water when visiting Paonia.
Directions - From Glenwood Springs, take Colorado
Highway 82 south to Carbondale, then south and southwest on Colorado
Highway 133 for 46 miles to the park. From Delta, take Highway 92 east
to Hotchkiss, then go north on Highway 133 through Paonia and 16 miles
farther to the park.
Trails -There are no hiking trails at Paonia, but
horseback riding and cross-country skiing can be done on an informal
basis along the shore of the lake. No groomed cross-country ski trails
exist in this park. Hikers may visit the trail systems in the Ragged
Wilderness Area nearby.
