A direct descendent of the old Spanish Barb horse brought to the Americas by the Spanish Conqerors and Colonizers, the Peruvian horse is without any doubt the most beautiful, willing and foremost the most genetically proponent of any other breed of gaited horses in the world. This comes as not a surprise since by the time the Spanish horse arrived in the new world it already had been carefully selected for many centuries in the Iberian Peninsula.

In general the Spanish horses were able to perform a walk, trot, Paso portante or castellano and canter. Once in Peru in accordance with the taste and needs of the new country they were by careful breeding and selection to emphasise more into the ones that will excel more into performing the Paso portante and or castellano (presently Paso Llano). That was the beginning of the national horse of Peruvian Entity.

Located just 40 miles west of Edmonton, Alberta Canada in the picturesque rolling country side, you will find one of Canada's most comprehensive breeding and training facility for the Peruvian Paso horse.
