In the summer of 2000, a group of concerned local citizens met at a small caf? in Duvall Washington to figure out how best to help horses in need in our communities.
From that small beginning, we have grown to a membership of nearly 200 dedicated volunteers who provide foster homes, safe transportation, medical and farrier care, and countless hours of service grooming horses, cleaning stalls, planning fundraisers, or doing any one of a thousand other things that always need doing.
In the past three years, we have received calls on hundreds of horses in need – they are starving, abandoned, or have fallen into the wrong hands.
Our policy is to respond to all calls for assistance. We do everything we can within legal guidelines to make situations better for the animals as well as the people. Sometimes that means teaching the owners how to properly feed and care for their horses; other times it means getting approval to remove the animals so that we can provide them with proper care.
