Rodney and Robin Barby

Welcome to the Bar-B Ranch Home on the Web! Thank you for stopping by. The Bar-B began in 1896 when Otto N. Barby bought 160 acres of land about seven miles southwest of Knowles, Oklahoma, and started out with a herd of 75 steers. At the time of his death in 1954, he and his three sons had acquired over 130,000 acres with a cow herd of about 4,500 head.

Today, the ranch is divided into four separate ranches, operated by his grandchildren's generation. The Bar-B is comprised of a registered quarter horse program, a commercial hunting lodge, and a farming and stocker operation. Please enjoy your visit and feel free to
contact us with any questions or comments!

We take immense pride in the great roping and ranch horses we produce here on the Bar-B. We have mares, colts, stallions and geldings available for sale at different times of the year offered through private treaty as well as various horse sales throughout the west and mid-west.

Horses have been a major component of everyday life since the ranch was established in 1896. We began registering our quarter horses in 1961 and have consistently produced outstanding colts with great conformation. Our horses have to be tough and stout enough to last all day in the sandhills of Beaver County. Consequently, the horses we raise have miles put on in the pasture, in the alley, and in the arena.
Raising horses for cattle work on the ranch is our primary goal.
We expect our horses to be able to work all day, stay sound and do whatever it takes to get the job done. Confirmation, attitude, ability cow sense and proven foundation bloodlines are key factors in our breeding program. Completing their tour of duty in the Oklahoma Panhandle Sandhills, our horses seem to appreciate the chance to excel as performance horses in the arena. In the training of our performance horses we find that starting them correctly - breaking, roping and doctoring cattle out in the pasture on them and moving cattle to various pastures over the tough sandhills before coming to the arena is very important in saving time and effort in helping each horse to reach his potential as a good solid arena horse.
